First, there was "Mean Girls," then there was "Gossip" girls, and now, fans might be able to indulge in a little more teen-queen drama with "Pretty Little Liars," which is this close to being picked up by ABC Family, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Based on a series of young-adult novels by author Sara Shepard, "Pretty Little Liars," is set after the disappearance of high school queen bee, Alison (think "Gossip Girl" Blair Waldorf, but totally heartless). The show will focus on Alison's four girlfriends, who reconnect after they start receiving text messages from Alison, taunting them about their deepest secrets. The texts continue even after Alison's body is found. Spooky!
THR also reports that the show will likely star Lucy Hale, who should have no problems playing a member of the elite, considering her recent resume credits include roles on the CW's now defunct "Privileged," and most recently, Lifetime's original movie "Sorority Wars." For the rest of the clique, may we suggest ABC Family picks some of the cast offs from the recently canceled "The Beautiful Life: TBL," we bet they know a thing or two about social climbing.
Would you tune in to watch "Pretty Little Liars?"
